Nestled between two tenements on Avenue C there is a small restaurant that beckons you with the alluring smell of Puerto Rican cooking.

The name “Casa Adela" is stenciled in gold letters on a glass window and when you enter it feels as if you’ve found an oasis where your ancestral memories are switched on. You may wonder who Adela is and then you see her either in the kitchen cooking ,behind the counter or sitting and laughing with those around her and you see that Adela is a fixture there .

“Last One Standing” is an intimate portrait of Adela, her culture her barrio and her gente that she left an indelible mark upon.
